What is Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal is a medical procedure that uses a laser – an intense, pulsating beam of light to remove unwanted hair. The traditional methods of removing unwanted hair including plucking shaving, waxing, chemical depilators, etc. are generally inconvenient, painful and messy. Due to large number of benefits men and women of all ages are adapting more effective solution – laser hair reduction.
How does it work?
- A laser produces a beam of highly concentrated light. The light emitted by the diode laser is well absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair follicle.
- Then the laser pulse is passed through the skin for a fraction of a second, just long enough to heat up the hair and destroy the follicles ability to re-grow.
- The result: permanent hair reduction in the treatment area.
We at Krasa Skin & Hair Clinic use the LightSheer diode laser, a state of the art system specifically designed laser to remove unwanted hair faster, with less discomfort and more reliably that any other method. Proven in more studies and more practices, the LightSheer diode laser is the recognised ‘GOLD STANDARD’ for permanent hair reduction world wide.
The cost of procedure depends upon the area to be treated. Treatment cost starts as low as Rs. 1000 per session.
Patients report that the treatment is very comfortable.

In some patients the treated area may become slightly red and show some swelling around each hair follicle . This is rare and typically disappears within 24 hours of the treatment.

Lasers penetrate the skin and affect your internal organs.
Truth: Lasers used for hair removal only penetrate deep enough to affect your hair follicles; they cannot and do not affect your internal organs.
Laser hair removal is painful.
Truth: Most people report that the sensation from the laser is a mild tingling or similar to the snap of a rubber band against the skin. Laser hair removal is generally more comfortable than waxing or electrolysis. A cooling gel is applied to the skin before and after your treatment. We also offer topical numbing cream to make the treatments less uncomfortable.
Laser hair removal costs a lot more than other methods.
Truth: While laser removal is more expensive, you need fewer treatments to achieve results. This makes it a more cost-effective method than electrolysis or waxing, or even perhaps shaving after you add up the cost of supplies over a span of time.
Laser hair removal causes ingrown hairs and more hair growth.
Truth: Ingrown hairs are common after shaving and waxing, but not after laser hair removal. In fact, laser hair removal significantly reduces the chances of getting ingrown hairs. Laser hair removal does not cause more hair growth either. In fact, hair that grows back is finer and lighter in color, making it less visible than before.
Laser hair removal cannot be performed on people with darker skins.
Truth: Laser can be used successfully on people with darker toned skin, such as Asians, Filipinos, and people of Micronesian descent. We have treated many patients with darker skin tones and have considerable experience and great success working with people within these ethnic groups.
