What are Hair Transplant ?

Hair transplant is a surgical technique that moves hair follicles from a part of the body called the ‘donor site’ to a bald or balding part of the body known as the ‘recipient site’. It is primarily used to treat male pattern baldness. In this minimally invasive procedure, grafts containing hair follicles that are genetically resistant to balding, (like the back of the head) are transplanted to the bald scalp.

The treatment is carried out in a professional, clinical environment, by a team of experts who will ensure you are kept as comfortable and relaxed as possible.

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia so the patient is awake during the entire procedure. This means the procedure is far safer than it would be with general anesthesia, but it also affords the patient the power and freedom to determine how the hairs are placed on the scalp. If the hairline should be changed, the patient can direct the placement of the follicular units to a degree. Obviously this leads to high rates of patient satisfaction.
There are two methods our surgeons use to achieve hair restoration. Both use ‘donor hair’ follicles extracted from your own scalp, under a local anaesthetic.

FUT strip extraction involves a surgeon extracting the donor hair as a strip of follicles. The extracted follicles are then replaced in the desired area using dissolvable sutures. The second option is follicular unit extraction (FUE). In this method, the follicles are removed from the donor area one by one, and then implanted one by one.

Hair restoration therapy can help address a receding or thinning hairline and can even stop hair loss altogether. Every case is different, so meeting for a private consultation with one of our experts will allow us to determine the type of treatment needed to achieve the results you want.
